這些「龍」根本就不是真正的龍！初步的外型設定是建立在耀西（Yoshi）上，這些穿著鞋子的恐龍有一個與眾不同的面貌，和比起其他在描繪上較為寫實的龍是更具詼諧有趣的風格。

成年的迪諾是不具性別的因此牠們無法繁殖。迪諾有五種顏色：綠色、紅色、藍色、黃色和紫色。紫色是唯一不是原始迪諾中就有的，是後來才新增的。迪諾的舊樣貌實際上就是像耀西的樣子，只不過顏色不同。牠們沒有品種限定的作用，且都被歸類為罕見龍。
